So, I really was in Nashville this week, and forgot I had this baby in the hopper from last week. Working on my diction —hope the lyrics are easier to hear through the twang of the strat.
Listenin’ to your heart is easy with family. Bee and Gary stopped by and Timmy made the trek.
We like the set lighting better, and found the groove. Lyrics below. We still have to get the vocals
up so words are discernable.
verse
Standin in the River with a Chainsaw
Caught between, fire and ice.
Dragonflies winkin with their fragile wings
I can see the look in their eyes
Chorus
Wake me up if you want to
Put your hand on my head
But dont tell me what I gotta believe
I’ll listen to my heart instead
I put my blade in the water
and paddled, just as fast as I can
out to the ocean where papyrus boats
with sirens, that make me feel like a man
Chorus
I can see forever through the wasteland
but forever can be a mirage
you got to keep the door wide open
and there wont be a facade
Chorus
N-lo and I re-worked this and I added some local footage —a beeootiful day in Hampton, NH
Week two of the Cyberspace Troubadour blog. This week’s post is a song by M.C. Archer. Many thanks to M.C. for rolling into Poseidon’s Crypt for a little fiddling and verse. She had some lyrics and after a few iterations we found some accompaniment. Here are the lyrics:
You can take me out to dinner
You can take me out to lunch
You can drown me with your liquor
but I have a little hunch
That you will be another number
Just a notch upon my belt
Cos the harder that you try
The less I will have felt
Chorus:
You see you don’t know who your dealing with
My heart is made of stone
I’ll chew you up and spit you out
You’re game be overthrown
I’m a siren of the modern day
Too quick for you to see
Before I slip away into the night
Taking your heart with me.
Your ignorance is sickening
Love is blind they say
I almost feel sorry for you
But i’m sure you’ll get it back some day
Cos this confidence you have
that you can sweep me off my feet
will swiftly turn and slap you in the face
and have you bleeding in the street
Chorus:
YOu see you don’t know who youre dealing with
my heart is made of stone
I’ll chew you up and spit you out
You’re game be overthrown
I’m a siren of the modern day
Too quick for you to see
Before I slip away into the night
Taking your heart with me
break
See this lonesome road I travel
is a lonely road indeed
I’ve been down that trail called heartbreak
Where vultures on your soul will feed
So I’ll maintain my independence
driving force behind my power
If you can manage to see the light of day
I won’t be your darkest hour
Chorus:
You see you don’t know who you’re dealing with
my heart is made of stone
I’ll chew you up and spit you out
If you don’t leave me alone
For while I have turned demon
A glimpse of hope will shine some day
But for you my friend time has run out
as on your desparate soul I prey
This is my inaugural post, on February 19, 2012. Still working on the “set”, but plan on sharing the music on a regular basis. This song emerged in the last couple of weeks. Who knows what inspired it, but it feels right.
“A Place For Going Home” emerged one Saturday morning after a gig at Gravity Tavern in New Boston. Nick and I shot it from the front seat of my Volvo, after a big snowstorm last winter.
